‘The State of Fashion & Textile Circularity in WA’ report is a direct response to the immediate need to reduce the high volume of clothing-based textile waste currently going to landfill and examines the factors affecting the implementation of circular economy strategies that could secure a reduction in clothing textiles waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Western Australian Circular Fashion Consortium (WACFC) have conducted comprehensive research over the past year on the current state of circularity in fashion and textiles within Western Australia, resulting in a comprehensive report which provides research and recommendations which contribute primarily to the achievement of SDG12 Responsible Consumption and Production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The State of Fashion Textile Circularity in WA report has been prepared by WA Circular Fashion Consortium (WACFC), convened in 2022 to conduct research that would contextualise Western Australia within the national product stewardship agenda, and advance Circular Economy based action within the local clothing industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consortium convenor Dr Anne Farren, a Senior Lecturer at Curtin\u2019s School of Design and the Built Environment, said fashion needed a complete rethink to take it beyond a product which is recycled through charitable organisations such as Good Sammys, calling for a round table of community and industry leaders to drive change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proudly supported by Dr Anne Farren from the Faculty of Humanities at Â鶹ֱ²¥, the Circular economy of Western Australia (CEWA), Good Sammy, Lisa Piller of South Metropolitan TAFE and the Fibre Economy, the launch of this report is a response to sustainable development in WA and the key factors affecting the implementation of circular economy strategies that could secure a reduction in clothing textiles waste.<\/p>\n\n\n \n\n \n\n
