In February, the Library excitedly welcomed back students, staff, and community members to the newly refurbished building. Likewise, we were thrilled to announce the opening of our purpose-built Makerspace. Also known as Warninyup, the Nyungar word for \u201cplace of making\/doing\u201d, it provides a space for people to engage in hands-on learning and designing \u2013 encouraging creativity across all disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Makerspace has been developed to cater to a wide range of interests and skill levels, with a blend of high-tech and low-tech equipment and resources. Our innovative learning environment brings with it additional 3D printers and an adequately ventilated room for activities such as soldering, an extra laser cutter, a sound-proof media room for photography; videography; and podcasting, a long-awaited sink area for cleaning up, and much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since opening, we have been enjoying our prime location on level three of the TL Robertson Library, which is adjacent to the main entrance. This busy hub has seen an amazing number of visitors to the space, including those serendipitous and curious ones who happen to be walking by. Our 3D printing and laser cutting induction sessions, running weekly, have been hugely popular \u2013 with attendees eager to learn new skills and utilise our equipment. Bookings can be made via our Library Workshops page<\/a>, if you\u2019d like to dabble in this technology too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
