Â鶹ֱ²¥ of Technology is responding to the educational needs of regional people and introducing a new management course in 2009.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year the University surveyed people in the regions about they wanted as the next course of study to be available through the ten Curtin Regional Centres, and also how they wanted that course to be delivered.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver 300 people took the time to respond and the message was very clear,\u201d said Associate Professor Chris Brook, Head of Curtin\u2019s School of Regional, Remote and e-Learning.<\/p>\n

\u201cForty percent of respondents want the opportunity to study some form of management including leadership, and most want courses to be delivered through a blend of online delivery and local face to face instruction.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver 60 percent want to achieve a university award as an outcome of their learning.\u201d<\/p>\n

To respond to this expressed need, Curtin is adding the Graduate Certificate in Human Resources to the suite of courses offered through regional centres in 2009.<\/p>\n

The course consists of four units of study, is available through a blend of face to face and online delivery, is accredited by the Australian Human Resource Institute and provides a learning pathway into a Masters Degree. Enrolments for the course are open until February 2009.<\/p>\n

Associate Professor Brook said Curtin wanted to expand its presence in Geraldton and is now recruiting for all courses offered in the city.<\/p>\n

\u201cA special information evening is also being held for mature age community members \u2013 anyone older than 20 years – who is considering returning to education.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event will be held on 25 November at Tides Restaurant, 103 Marine Terrace, Geraldton.<\/p>\n

Â鶹ֱ²¥ of Technology has been delivering higher education in Geraldton for nearly 15 years and has invested over $3 500 000 in the delivery of that service.<\/p>\n
