  {"id":17226,"date":"2008-11-11T05:30:06","date_gmt":"2008-11-10T21:30:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/history-making-road-trip\/"},"modified":"2008-11-11T05:30:06","modified_gmt":"2008-11-10T21:30:06","slug":"history-making-road-trip","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/history-making-road-trip\/","title":{"rendered":"History making road trip"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"title\">\n<div id=\"titledesc\">\n<p>C296\/08<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span>11 November 2008<\/span><\/div>\n<p>More than 600 Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ of Technology students and staff recently  travelled 30,000 kms in 23 buses and four vans to 34 destinations across Western  Australia to undertake community projects.<\/p>\n<p>The group, known as Curtin Volunteers!, was taking part in the University\u2019s  annual John Curtin Weekend and helped many regional communities including  Nungarin, Kulin and Tambellup to turn their town plans into action.<\/p>\n<p>John Curtin Weekend coordinator, Maureen Meredith, said this year\u2019s road trip  by the volunteers was probably the most successful they had undertaken in the  program\u2019s 10 year history.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe received great feedback from the towns and volunteers.
