A group of Â鶹ֱ²¥ of Technology students and graduates will launch a new print youth magazine called, dotdotdash, in September.<\/p>\n
Curtin creative writing honors student Steven Finch said dotdotdash is aimed at getting more young people involved in the Perth arts scene while showcasing the talents of various Curtin Humanities students.<\/p>\n
\u201cdotdotdash brings together more than 25 Curtin students and graduates from creative and professional writing, fine arts, public relations, marketing, and graphic design degrees,\u201d said Mr Finch, 23, of Leeming.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re all pretty excited to collaborate on this project.\u201d<\/p>\n
dotdotdash will be a colourful, quarterly print publication distributed nationally.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe idea came about in conversation with my creative writing peers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe thought it was a shame that the Perth youth weren\u2019t more involved in their arts scene, especially writers.\u201d<\/p>\n
Almost $10,000 in funding has already been raised to support the publication which includes a Propelarts YCulture Metro grant of $3,300 and an Express Media Write in Your Face grant of $5,000.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe funding is going towards printing costs, creative workshops for emerging artists, and literary nights.\u201d<\/p>\n
Curtin\u2019s Dr Hunn said dotdotdash was an outstanding example of student and graduate ingenuity and persistence.<\/p>\n
\u201cI congratulate them on their passion as this is all being done above and beyond their study, jobs and other commitments,\u201d Dr Hunn said.<\/p>\n
\u201cdotdotdash is proving to be a wonderful outlet for them and I can\u2019t wait to see the finished result.\u201d<\/p>\n
