The School of Nursing and Midwifery at Â鶹ֱ²¥ of Technology today conferred the honour of Adjunct Associate Professor on Madam Lim Swee Hia, SingHealth\u2019s Group Director of Nursing. Madam Lim is the University\u2019s first Adjunct Associate Professor in Singapore.<\/p>\n

Professor Jill Downie, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin said the appointment was very important for the University.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe appointment of an Adjunct Professor recognises outstanding leaders in their field who have a strategic relationship with the University,\u201d Professor Downie said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMadam Lim is the first international Adjunct Professor to be appointed for the School. She has over forty years of nursing experience and has made an immense contribution to the profession during her career.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe has worked tirelessly to enhance nurses\u2019 training opportunities and career pathways which has resulted in increased recruitment and retention of nurses at a national level in Singapore.\u201d<\/p>\n

Curtin is Australia\u2019s fifth largest university and has a strong commitment to internationalisation. The University currently has over 17,000 international students.<\/p>\n

\u201cCurtin is committed to providing world class educational opportunities throughout the broader region and has established campuses and educational programs across Southeast Asia,\u201d Professor Downie said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis includes the recently announced Singapore campus of Curtin which will provide a collaborative university campus for our students and enhance their educational experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Singapore alone, the School of Nursing and Midwifery has 330 students currently studying.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is already a strong relationship between Singapore and Australia\u2019s healthcare industry and this appointment will build on our joint efforts in education and research and further strengthen the bond.\u201d<\/p>\n
