Two Â鶹ֱ²¥ of Technology students won gold medals at the recent World Universiade Summer Games (WUSG) in Belgrade.<\/p>\n
Mechanical engineering student Aaron Younger and commerce student Joel Swift were members of the successful water polo team.<\/p>\n
“It was an amazing feeling, it was the largest scale tournament I have ever won and it feels fantastic,” said Aaron, of Palmyra.<\/p>\n
“Curtin has been very supportive of my hectic sporting schedule and I also received $2500 from the University which helped with my travel expenses.”<\/p>\n
Aaron has been playing water polo for seven years and will participate in the junior world championships in Croatia.<\/p>\n
A total of 142 countries and 7,320 athletes competed in this year\u2019s Universiade.<\/p>\n
Australia won five gold medals, two silver and one bronze at the event which is the best ever result for Australia at the Universiade games.<\/p>\n
