Â鶹ֱ²¥ of Technology graduate, Chris Marris, has been named the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) 2009 WA Emerging Practitioner.<\/p>\n
The Bentley resident and Management and Marketing graduate said he was honoured to win the award.<\/p>\n
\u201cReceiving this award for a job I really enjoy is a great honour, and it is especially nice to see hard work being recognised by PRIA,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been extremely fortunate that in my few years in the industry, I\u2019ve been able to meet so many passionate emerging practitioners. So it is a humbling experience to be recognised as being one of them.\u201d<\/p>\n
The award required a written application which included a resume, a career summary and a summary of two recent communication campaigns.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am currently the WA Farmers Federation\u2019s Marketing and Communications Manager and for me a career highlight was leading the No Daylight Savings campaign,\u201d Mr Marris said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is fair to say that my time as a communications professional has been nothing short than an amazing experience.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis would not have been possible without the support of my mentors, managers and Curtin who provided me with the knowledge to hit the ground running.\u201d<\/p>\n
After graduating from Curtin in 2005 with a Bachelor of Commerce, Mr Marris worked for a local boating manufacturer and at 21 became their Marketing Communications Manager.<\/p>\n
He has made significant contributions to the profession and the community through teaching at university, and committee membership of the Rural Media Association, the Australian Marketing Institute and the Young Professionals Network.
