Â鶹ֱ²¥ of Technology academic Dr Euan Lindsay has been elected as President of the Australasian Association for Engineering Education (AAEE).<\/p>\n
Dr Lindsay, of Bayswater, said he was honoured to accept the position and looked forward to promoting engineering education.<\/p>\n
\u201cEngineering is vital for Australia\u2019s future and well-trained engineers are needed to build hospitals, schools, roads and bridges,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are also needed to develop the new technologies of the future, such as those that will be required to tackle climate change.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to use my position to do as much as possible to encourage young people to study engineering at university.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dr Lindsay has a strong track record in supporting excellence in engineering education. In 2007 he received the Carrick Institute’s Early Career Award for Teaching Excellence and in 2006 won the IEEE Education Society’s Transactions on Education Best Paper Award.<\/p>\n
In 2005 Dr Lindsay was chosen as one of the 30 most inspirational young engineers in Australia.<\/p>\n
