  {"id":17551,"date":"2010-02-19T05:59:57","date_gmt":"2010-02-18T21:59:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-showcases-student-achievement-on-itunes-u\/"},"modified":"2010-02-19T05:59:57","modified_gmt":"2010-02-18T21:59:57","slug":"curtin-showcases-student-achievement-on-itunes-u","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-showcases-student-achievement-on-itunes-u\/","title":{"rendered":"Curtin showcases student achievement on iTunes U"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ of Technology today launched Curtin on iTunes U, providing the ability to deliver free educational content through the iTunes store.<\/p>\n<p>iTunes U is a dedicated area within the iTunes Store (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.itunes.com\/\">www.itunes.com<\/a>), offering free educational content including course lectures, language lessons, lab demonstrations, and campus tours, all available for download in the same way individuals access music and movies on the iTunes Store.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Curtin\u2019s Digital Media Unit, Rick Barrett, said Curtin on iTunes U not only offered educational content from selected experts, but was also an outlet for Curtin students to showcase their work and features specially prepared content targeted at assisting secondary school students.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the first time our students would be able to publish evidence of their achievements from electronic portfolios that showcase their skills and ability and that can be shared with a worldwide audience,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Barrett said a key feature of Curtin\u2019s iTunes U site was a special section designed to reach out to high school students by providing lectures and tutorials on chemistry, economics, and English that would assist them with their studies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope that this would be the beginning of a new level of interaction between the university and secondary school students that will evolve in 2010,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Other sections on Curtin\u2019s iTunes U sites are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Curtin: ideas and discussions<br \/>\nSelected expert lectures and speeches<\/li>\n<li>Culture at Curtin<br \/>\nInformation on the John Curtin Gallery;
