  {"id":17706,"date":"2011-02-17T07:20:54","date_gmt":"2011-02-16T23:20:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/valuable-resources-for-indigenous-health-professionals\/"},"modified":"2011-02-17T07:20:54","modified_gmt":"2011-02-16T23:20:54","slug":"valuable-resources-for-indigenous-health-professionals","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/valuable-resources-for-indigenous-health-professionals\/","title":{"rendered":"Valuable resources for Indigenous health professionals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Health professionals working with Indigenous communities now have a valuable new resource to help them to provide the best healthcare and planning in order to improve the health of Aboriginal Australians.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe book, \u2018Indigenous Australian Heath and Cultures: An introduction for health professionals,\u2019 will be officially launched by the first Indigenous Australian elected to the Australian House of Representatives, Mr Kenneth Wyatt MP AM JP at 1pm on Friday 18 February at Âé¶¹Ö±²¥\u2019s Centre for Aboriginal Studies.<\/p>\n<p>Editors Rosalie Thackrah, Kim Scott and Joan Winch created the book following a \u2018life-cycle\u2019 approach, with early chapters on new life and childhood progressing to chapters on older Aboriginal people and \u2018sorry business\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The book is unique in it has involved a strong collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous contributors from throughout Australia in both the authorship and the editorial team.
