  {"id":17732,"date":"2011-03-28T03:49:57","date_gmt":"2011-03-27T19:49:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-design-student-wins-international-competition\/"},"modified":"2011-03-28T03:49:57","modified_gmt":"2011-03-27T19:49:57","slug":"curtin-design-student-wins-international-competition","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-design-student-wins-international-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Curtin design student wins international competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Final-year Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ Design student, Matthew Nankivell, has been named a joint winner of the 2010 international YoungGuns Creative Brief advertising competition.<\/p>\n<p>The competition, run every year by the prestigious Leo Burnett Advertising Group, recognises outstanding creative work by young design professionals aged under 30.<\/p>\n<p>The Coogee resident said the competition brief was \u2018Drop 1 Product.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy task was to create a campaign which convinced consumers to drop one product that they often buy but don\u2019t necessarily need in order to help the environment by reducing resource drain, waste creation and waste disposal emissions,\u201d Matthew said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy campaign sought to create a collaborative partnership between the &#8216;Drop 1 Product&#8217; initiative and Woolworths in order to target consumers during the purchasing process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUsing an iPhone application, consumers would be able to create a shopping list which would display all relevant product information as well as an &#8216;eco point&#8217;
