A Â鶹ֱ²¥ public relations student has taken out a major prize at an international communications challenge.<\/p>\n
Jessica Rigali, a third-year student, was part of a team that took out the top prize at the 2012 Global Communication (GlobCom) Project held in Abu Dhabi last month.<\/p>\n
GlobCom is an annual event that sees students from 11 universities across five continents work in virtual teams to prepare strategy proposals for real clients.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s client was the Abu Dhabi Global Environment Data Initiative.<\/p>\n
Miss Rigali said the experience had provided her with invaluable industry experience.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough GlobCom, I was offered the opportunity to work with some of the brightest minds in public relations from around the world,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI now have close working relationships with my teammates from Italy, the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Germany, Spain, Russia and South Africa.<\/p>\n
\u201cI also now have experience pitching concepts to high profile, international clients.\u201d<\/p>\n
A delegation of 10 Â鶹ֱ²¥ students travelled to Abu Dhabi to compete in this year\u2019s finals.<\/p>\n
Curtin Business School public relations lecturer Katharina Wolf accompanied the delegation of the students.<\/p>\n
\u201cÂ鶹ֱ²¥ was the only Australian university invited to participate in the GlobCom Project,\u201d Ms Wolf said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am tremendously proud of the Curtin students who participated this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll team members approached this challenge with great professionalism, creativity and comradeship.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe students now have experience preparing large scale projects with teammates situated around the globe.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis experience places all participating students in great stead for their entry into the workforce.\u201d<\/p>\n
