  {"id":17944,"date":"2012-06-12T03:59:12","date_gmt":"2012-06-11T19:59:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-program-set-to-ignite-bright-ideas\/"},"modified":"2012-06-12T03:59:12","modified_gmt":"2012-06-11T19:59:12","slug":"curtin-program-set-to-ignite-bright-ideas","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-program-set-to-ignite-bright-ideas\/","title":{"rendered":"Curtin program set to ignite bright ideas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Inventors and entrepreneurs are invited to register for a Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ program that helps build business cases around new innovations with a view to eventual commercialisation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Curtin Growth Ignition is a five-day non-academic program comprising of workshops, one-on-one clinics with industry experts, small group mentoring sessions and networking opportunities with successful innovators.<\/p>\n<p>Now in its second year, the program is based on the successful Ignite program delivered by the University of Cambridge Judge Business School.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Thorning, Director of Curtin\u2019s Centre for Entrepreneurship, said the program is ideal for individual, corporate, government and academic innovators who are looking to take their bright idea to a commercial reality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast year was our inaugural year and we saw diverse and brilliant ideas developed, including a new head-lice treatment, precision systems for applying fertilisers and software to assist teachers with their administration,\u201d Mr Thorning said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany people have great ideas but many ideas never get developed and brought to fruition.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis program will help people develop their innovative concepts and evaluate financial feasibility, consider intellectual property issues, assess market demand and build a comprehensive business pitch for obtaining venture financing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Curtin Growth Ignition takes place from 19 \u2013 24 August at the Technology Park Function Centre, Technology Park, Bentley.<\/p>\n<p>Sponsored by the State Government, the event will be opened by Western Australia\u2019s Chief Scientist, Professor Lyn Beazley.<\/p>\n<p>The participation fees are $1,650 for individual, small business and academic delegates and $2,950 for corporate and government delegates.<\/p>\n<p>The Centre for Entrepreneurship is part of Curtin Business School.
