Twenty graduating students from Â鶹ֱ²¥\u2019s fashion design course will showcase both their design and organisational skills at ARCADIA, Curtin\u2019s 2012 fashion design graduate show, to be held on 14 November at 7pm at the Curtin Stadium.<\/p>\n
As well as creating the runway collections, the students have been engaged in every aspect of the graduate parade \u2013 from lighting and design, to marketing and promotion, guest services and public relations.<\/p>\n
Anne Farren, Curtin\u2019s Coordinator of Fashion Design, said the creations would challenge the way people thought about garments and their construction and would showcase the new technology that the University and the local fashion industry now has at its fingertips.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Curtin fashion degree provides students with strong theoretical, conceptual and practical skills, helping to distinguish them as designers and prepare them for industry,\u201d Ms Farren said.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust as technology has shaped the way we communicate and socialise with one another, so too has it shaped the future of fashion.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the establishment and launch of the Fashion Design and Research Hub at Curtin this semester, specialist machinery is now available to assist in the conception, design and construction of garments.\u201d<\/p>\n
The event has sponsorship support from local companies such as Chadwick\u2019s and OMG productions, and national brands including Betts.\u00a0<\/p>\n
