Technology being developed by Â鶹ֱ²¥ could make a substantial contribution to Andrew Forrest\u2019s goal of ending slavery in Pakistan.<\/p>\n
Mr Forrest, Founder of Fortescue Metals Group, and Shabaz Sharif, the Chief Minister of the Punjab province in Pakistan, have entered into an innovative partnership which aims to eradicate slavery in the Punjab and secure its energy independence.<\/p>\n
Â鶹ֱ²¥ is now working with Mr Forrest\u2019s Minderoo Foundation to plan feasibility studies into ways to enhance energy security in the Punjab region.<\/p>\n
Curtin\u2019s Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Colin Stirling said the University was delighted its expertise in energy research could potentially have far-reaching humanitarian and nation-building impacts.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe commend Andrew Forrest and his Walk Free Foundation for their humanitarian work, and for their commitment to eliminating slavery in Pakistan,\u201d Professor Stirling said. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe work of the world-class researchers at Curtin\u2019s Fuels and Energy Technology Institute, led by Professor Chun-Zhu Li, has the potential to transform the economies of developing nations through increasing energy security.<\/p>\n
