  {"id":18356,"date":"2014-12-10T07:29:07","date_gmt":"2014-12-09T23:29:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-professor-awarded-medal-excellence-pharmacy\/"},"modified":"2024-08-30T09:58:05","modified_gmt":"2024-08-30T01:58:05","slug":"curtin-professor-awarded-medal-excellence-pharmacy","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-professor-awarded-medal-excellence-pharmacy\/","title":{"rendered":"Curtin Professor awarded medal for excellence in pharmacy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Professor Jeff Hughes from Curtin\u2019s School of Pharmacy has been awarded the 2014 Australasian Pharmaceutical Sciences Association (APSA) Medal.<\/p>\n<p>The Medal is APSA\u2019s highest accolade to recognise excellence and lasting contribution to the pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy practice.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Hughes is the first academic from Curtin to receive the APSA Medal and he joins a list of Australasian pharmacy luminaries who have received the honour since its inception in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>Curtin\u2019s Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Professor Michael Berndt, congratulated Professor Hughes on the significant achievement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProfessor Hughes is a senior figure in pharmacy practice innovation, pharmaceutical sciences research and pharmacy education across Australia and New Zealand,\u201d Professor Berndt said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis commitment to teaching and learning has established his international reputation as a pharmacy educator with a strong emphasis on student-centred evidence-based teaching for undergraduates, postgraduates and practitioners in pharmacy and other allied disciplines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/apsa-medal.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-28179 aligncenter\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/apsa-medal.jpg\" alt=\"The APSA medal\" width=\"792\" height=\"420\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Professor Hughes has published over 200 research and professional papers and contributed to 17 books, and is also an accredited pharmacist.
