  {"id":18413,"date":"2015-05-15T04:20:55","date_gmt":"2015-05-14T20:20:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/radiothon-success-for-curtin-fm\/"},"modified":"2015-05-15T04:20:55","modified_gmt":"2015-05-14T20:20:55","slug":"radiothon-success-for-curtin-fm","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/radiothon-success-for-curtin-fm\/","title":{"rendered":"Radiothon success for Curtin FM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The community has once again shown generous support for radio station Curtin FM by donating more than $102,000 during the annual Radiothon.<\/p>\n<p>The amount was raised from more than 1,900 individual donations, ranging from $2 to $1,000 and also included a number of raffled items that were donated by station sponsors.<\/p>\n<p>Station Manager Quinn Glasson thanked all those who donated to the Radiothon and said the total was evidence of the loyalty of Curtin FM\u2019s listeners and volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe continued success of Radiothon is proof of the strength of Curtin FM as a community network,\u201d Mr Glasson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach year the Curtin FM staff and volunteers work tirelessly to coordinate the event and the total is testament to this effort.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More than 50 station volunteers helped by taking calls, collating pledges and assisting with the five-day event.<\/p>\n<p>Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ Vice-President, Corporate Relations and Development, Ms Valerie Raubeheimer said the money raised from Radiothon goes straight back into running the station, including the cadet journalism program for Curtin students.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe donations that come in year after year demonstrate how much the community appreciates Curtin FM and wants it to continue its great work,\u201d Ms Raubenheimer said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe money raised also supports the cadet journalism program which offers a unique training experience for students who often go on to find jobs in the broadcasting industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Curtin FM is Western Australia\u2019s largest community radio station with more than 200,000 listeners weekly.
