  {"id":18459,"date":"2015-08-18T00:53:08","date_gmt":"2015-08-17T16:53:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-ranks-in-top-300-in-prestigious-world-rankings\/"},"modified":"2015-08-18T00:53:08","modified_gmt":"2015-08-17T16:53:08","slug":"curtin-ranks-in-top-300-in-prestigious-world-rankings","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-ranks-in-top-300-in-prestigious-world-rankings\/","title":{"rendered":"Curtin ranks in top 300 in prestigious world rankings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ has again improved its rankings in the highly-regarded Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).<\/p>\n<p>Curtin is now placed in the 201-300 band, up from 301-400 in 2014 and 401-500 in 2013, placing the University at 271 and number 11 in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Curtin featured in the world top 200 ARWU Field ranking for Engineering\/Technology and Computer Sciences (101-150) and Subject ranking for Mathematics (151-200).<\/p>\n<p>Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ Vice-Chancellor, Professor Deborah Terry said that Curtin\u2019s jump in the 2015 rankings was a great result that reflected the University\u2019s strengthening profile and reputation in a number of key areas such as Earth Sciences, led by nationally and internationally renowned researchers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEffective and proactive recruitment within our academic faculties, the focus on ensuring our staff are engaged in quality research, and the steady growth in scholarly journal articles over the last five years have all contributed to the University\u2019s performance in the ARWU,\u201d Professor Terry said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe increase in Curtin\u2019s research income, particularly through partnerships with industry, will support further expansion of our research activity, as will our focus on building deep partnerships with international collaborators and increasing our PhD cohort.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ARWU listing is released annually by Shanghai Jiao Tong University\u2019s Centre for World-Class Universities.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on the ARWU, visit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.shanghairanking.com\/ARWU2015.html\">http:\/\/www.shanghairanking.com\/ARWU2015.html<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ has again improved its rankings in the highly-regarded Academic Ranking of World Universities.
