  {"id":18790,"date":"2017-05-19T03:30:17","date_gmt":"2017-05-18T19:30:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-university-graduates-shine-education-awards\/"},"modified":"2017-05-19T03:30:17","modified_gmt":"2017-05-18T19:30:17","slug":"curtin-university-graduates-shine-education-awards","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-university-graduates-shine-education-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ graduates shine at Education Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Graduates from Âé¶¹Ö±²¥\u2019s School of Education have been recognised for their academic achievements and commitment to the fields of teaching, research and languages at the School\u2019s annual awards night.<\/p>\n<p>Associate Professor Lina Pelliccione, Head of School of Education at Curtin, said the event was a great way to showcase the talents and dedication of recent graduates during their course of study.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year, 21 students from the undergraduate and postgraduate programs were recognised across 27 award categories,\u201d Associate Professor Pelliccione said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are incredibly proud of our students and what they have achieved. They are extraordinary individuals who are passionate about education and committed to making a difference in the work they do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tegan Heath was presented with three awards on the night, acknowledging her accomplishments while studying a Bachelor of Education in Primary Education. She graduated in 2016 and now works as a Year One teacher at Harrisdale Primary School.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Heath was the recipient of the Miles Medal Award for Excellence in Education, presented to the Curtin School of Education pre-service graduate who achieved excellence in overall academic performance during the course.<\/p>\n<p>She also received the Primary English Teaching Association Australia (PETAA) Award for Excellence and the Mathematical Association of WA (MAWA) Award, which recognised her significant contribution to the mathematics education community in the field of Primary Education.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was an absolute honour and privilege to be recognised for my hard work and effort during my time at Curtin.
