raising more than $96,000.

The amount was raised from more than 1,553 individual donations over the five-day event, with over 60 volunteers dedicating their time to take phone calls, manage donations and coordinate the event.

Station Manager Quinn Glasson said the overall total was outstanding and thanked all those who were involved and donated to Radiothon.

“The total is testament to the loyalty and generosity of our listeners and we are so thankful for all donations especially during tough economic times,” Mr Glasson said.

“We couldn’t manage Radiothon without the ongoing support of our volunteers, who generously offer their time and assistance to make each year a success.

“It is also fantastic to celebrate the success of another Radiothon during a special celebratory year for the University.”

Radiothon 2017 was held during the University’s ‘50 Years of Innovation’ celebrations – recognising the combined history of the Western Australian Institute of Technology (WAIT), which opened its doors to students in 1967 and evolved into Â鶹ֱ²¥ in 1987.

Â鶹ֱ²¥ Vice-President Corporate Relations Ms Valerie Raubenheimer said the money raised from Radiothon goes straight back into running the station.

“Every year Curtin FM receives generous donations from its listeners during Radiothon and it really is testament to its popularity and the loyalty of their audience,” Ms Raubenheimer said.

“This Radiothon falls in a significant anniversary year for the University and Curtin FM is very much a part of the University’s history, having started broadcasting in 1976 as Radio 6NR.”

Curtin FM is Western Australia’s largest community radio station with more than 239,000 listeners weekly.

It is based at Â鶹ֱ²¥’s Bentley Campus and is a
