A Curtin alum and leading Western Australian business executive who has been smashing glass ceilings in the male-dominated construction, infrastructure and mining industries has been appointed an Adjunct Professor at Â鶹ֱ²¥.<\/p>\n

Former WA Telstra Business Woman of the Year Sharon Warburton, who graduated from Â鶹ֱ²¥ with a Bachelor of Business in 1990, has held influential roles in Perth, Sydney, London and Abu Dhabi across her 25-plus year career and is now Non-Executive Company Director for Fortescue Metals Group Limited, WorleyParsons Limited, Gold Road Resources Limited and NEXTDC Limited.<\/p>\n

Â鶹ֱ²¥ Faculty of Business and Law Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Nigel de Bussy said he was delighted to announce Ms Warburton, a highly respected female Company Director in the construction, mining and infrastructure sectors, had been appointed to the Faculty.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver her significant career, Ms Warburton has held high-profile roles for Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF), Western Power, and Brookfield Multiplex. She is also the current Director of the Perth Children\u2019s Hospital Foundation and Patron of the Curtin Business School\u2019s Women in MBA Scholarship Program,\u201d Professor de Bussy said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs part of her new role at Curtin, Ms Warburton will provide advice on business and industry trends, economic and business development, and support the development of networks and partnerships that ensure the Faculty of Business and Law remains industry relevant.<\/p>\n

\u201cMs Warburton\u2019s commitment to improving diversity, workplace flexibility, pay equality and retention in the construction and mining industries makes her a champion for other females looking to advocate for change and advance their careers in these industries.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Warburton said she was honoured to join Curtin as an Adjunct Professor with the Faculty of Business and Law.<\/p>\n

\u201cCurtin is committed to connecting graduates with industry through work experience opportunities, graduate programs and full-time employment. I am delighted to be recognised by Curtin and look forward to collaborating with an industry-driven and future-focused University,\u201d Ms Warburton said.<\/p>\n
