  {"id":19621,"date":"2020-10-30T02:09:58","date_gmt":"2020-10-29T18:09:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/distinguished-curtin-alumni-recognised-at-annual-achievement-awards\/"},"modified":"2022-12-08T10:14:05","modified_gmt":"2022-12-08T02:14:05","slug":"distinguished-curtin-alumni-recognised-at-annual-achievement-awards","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/distinguished-curtin-alumni-recognised-at-annual-achievement-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Distinguished Curtin alumni recognised at annual achievement awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An internationally renowned artist-jeweller, historian and author has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2020 Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ Alumni Achievement Awards ceremony held last night.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.curtin.edu.au\/stories\/curtin-alum-inducted-into-the-design-institute-of-australia-hall-of-fame\/\">Dr Dorothy Erickson<\/a>, who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the Western Australian Institute of Technology (WAIT) now Âé¶¹Ö±²¥, has staged more than 40 solo exhibitions and 250 group exhibitions worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Over her 55-year career, Dr Erickson has been committed to documenting and promoting Western Australia\u2019s art, craft and design history as well as Australian jewellery internationally.<\/p>\n<p>Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ Vice-Chancellor Professor John Cordery congratulated Dr Erickson and all the recipients of this year\u2019s Alumni Achievement Awards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach year the University recognises Curtin alumni who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the community. I am delighted to recognise this year\u2019s award winners who have been instrumental and impactful in their own fields and made a lasting contribution to the community since leaving Curtin,\u201d Professor Cordery said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr Erickson, who won the Lifetime Achievement Award last night, is an influential leader and artist in Australia\u2019s arts and craft community. Dr Erickson, along with the other award recipients, are outstanding examples of Curtin alumni who have used their degrees to make a difference both in Australia and around the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurtin is proud to reconnect with its alumni at these awards and celebrate their achievements alongside their fellow graduates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Community Service Award was presented to registered architect Mr Richard Hammond from RH Architects.
