  {"id":26485,"date":"2024-10-18T08:57:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-18T00:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/?post_type=media-release&#038;p=26485"},"modified":"2024-10-17T15:02:07","modified_gmt":"2024-10-17T07:02:07","slug":"fellowships-to-share-curtins-green-expertise-internationally","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/fellowships-to-share-curtins-green-expertise-internationally\/","title":{"rendered":"Fellowships to share Curtin\u2019s green expertise internationally"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ is taking Western Australia\u2019s globally renowned sustainability strengths to the world, inviting members of the Bangladesh Ministry of Industries to see firsthand how they can move towards a greener economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fifteen Bangladeshi public servants and representatives from small to medium businesses will spend three weeks in WA funded by the Australian Government through the Australia Awards Fellowships program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Fellows are visiting Perth to attend a series of workshops and lectures to learn from Curtin\u2019s world-leading sustainability lecturers and researchers, who will focus on areas of expertise such as sustainable supply chain management, the renewable energy transition and incorporating green economies into industrial development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group will also tour the state taking in renowned eco-focused sites such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecovillage.net.au\/\">Witchcliffe Ecovillage<\/a> and Kwinana Industrial Area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor of Sustainability <a href=\"https:\/\/staffportal.curtin.edu.au\/staff\/profile\/view\/D.Marinova\/\">Dora Marinova<\/a>, from the Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ Sustainability Policy Institute (CUSP), said the Fellowships program showed the high regard in which Curtin and WA\u2019s expertise in climate action and sustainable growth is held internationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are showcasing WA\u2019s leadership in sustainability, from circular economy initiatives to renewable energy projects, including visits to key industry leaders such as Circular Seed, Richgro and Emu Downs Solar and Wind Farm,\u201d Professor Marinova said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEach Fellow will be scoping an action research project aimed at green economy transition and will begin implementing their projects upon their return to Bangladesh.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>School of Management and Marketing Adjunct Senior Research Fellow, Dr Asif Iqbal Siddiqui, said understanding best practice as the world moves towards a more sustainable future would grow increasingly important for countries around the world \u2014 and Curtin was at the forefront of this shift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere are the environmental benefits to consider of course, but it also goes beyond that,\u201d Dr Siddiqui said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMany markets, such as the European Union, require businesses to disclose their operations\u2019 wider impact via environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting;
