health research to transform care for vulnerable communities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Two Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ research projects have been awarded almost $2.8 million in National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) grants to enhance healthcare delivery for vulnerable populations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Led by <a href=\"https:\/\/research.curtin.edu.au\/enable\/research\/dementia\/our-dementia-ageing-team\/deborah-hersh\/\">Professor Deborah Hersh<\/a> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/about\/learning-teaching\/health-sciences\/curtin-school-of-allied-health\/\">Curtin School of Allied Health<\/a>, the first project aims to transform how healthcare professionals communicate test results and give feedback to patients with acquired brain injuries (ABI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By integrating adult education principles into rehabilitation contexts, this approach addresses a critical gap in care, where traditional assessment methods often leave people feeling confused and disconnected from their own recovery process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second initiative, led by Dean of Indigenous Engagement in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/about\/learning-teaching\/business-and-law\/curtin-business-school\/accounting-economics-finance\/\">Faculty of Business and Law<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/staffportal.curtin.edu.au\/staff\/profile\/view\/tuguy-esgin-800bc2ae\/\">Associate Professor Tuguy Esgin<\/a>, focuses on developing radar-based technology for non-invasive cardiovascular monitoring in Indigenous communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The research has the potential to transform how Indigenous communities perceive and experience healthcare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Curtin Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research <a href=\"https:\/\/staffportal.curtin.edu.au\/staff\/profile\/view\/melinda-fitzgerald-e380f4d6\/\">Professor Melinda Fitzgerald<\/a> congratulated Professor Hersh and Associate Professor Esgin on their grant success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;These Curtin research projects supported by NHMRC funding, reflect our commitment to inclusive healthcare solutions that merge technological advancement with personalised care,\u201d Professor Fitzgerald said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBoth Professor Hersh and Associate Professor Esgin have placed patients and the patient experience at the heart of their research, co-designing with communities to ensure their work is culturally appropriate, user-friendly and impactful.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information about
