You’re having to recall a semesters worth of knowledge and communicate it effectively, all the while trying to beat the clock. So with exam period just around the corner, the time to start revising is now.

We’ve compiled a list of study tips and tricks to help you study to the best of your ability and make the revision process a little easier.

Read aloud

You should not only read your textbooks and flashcards over and over, but you should try reading them aloud as this helps your brain commit the information to memory. By voicing the material, you are giving it a distinct sound and therefore giving your brain another way of remembering it.

Re-watch your lectures

If you’re furiously trying to take down every word your lecturer is saying, there’s a good chance you might be missing out on vital information in a lecture. Instead, sit and listen during your actual lecture, and then make use of the lecture recording later and work through it, taking notes at your own pace.

Block distractions

Time to get strict with yourself – create a study timetable and stick to it, or find a quiet space in your home without a TV or phone and settle in for a study session. By removing procrastination temptations from your surroundings you will give yourself the best chance at focused study.

Turn your notes into an infographic

An infographic utilises charts and icons to display information in a visual, condensed, easy to understand way. Try turning a topic you’re studying into an infographic poster, or if you want to start small, try adding graphics or illustrations to your regular notes.

Explain it to a friend or parent

Find someone who is totally unfamiliar with the subject that you’re studying, and try to explain a concept to them in a simple way. If they can understand what you’re talking about, chances are you will know your stuff.

Reward yourself

Having a few lollies when you finish reading a page of text or allowing yourself to watch an episode of your favourite show after two hours of solid study will help you stay motivated to keep studying.

Stop the all-nighters

Even though you think you need as much time as possible to revise and memorise your notes, don’t forget that your body needs time to rest and recuperate in order to function properly. While you’re resting, your brain reaffirms the new memories you’ve collected throughout the day.

Take care of you

Off the back of getting a good night’s rest, ensure you are eating well and exercising, as this will ensure you perform at your best when it comes to exam time.

Quit cramming

Going through an entire textbook of information during one study session isn’t advised as it’s likely you won’t remember much. Instead, break down what you need to study into digestible chunks and use those to guide what you need to accomplish in each study session.

Good luck!

We’ve compiled a list of study tips and tricks to help you study to the best of your ability and make the revision process a little easier.

[147
post-13717","oasis-news","type-oasis-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","oasis-categories-study-skills
"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
["GET
