If you\u2019re required to sit an online exam during Curtin\u2019s examination period<\/a>, you\u2019ll be using IRIS@Curtin – Curtin\u2019s Intelligent Remote Invigilation System. Here\u2019s everything you need to know to get online exam ready.<\/p>\n

What is IRIS?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Curtin\u2019s Intelligent Remote Invigilation System (IRIS) is a computer program that helps deter and detect academic dishonesty in online tests and exams.<\/p>\n

How does IRIS Work? <\/strong><\/p>\n

IRIS records the audio, video and screen of students\u2019 work environment during online tests and flags behaviour that may show academic dishonesty. This helps provide markers with greater assurance of assessment integrity, while allowing students to work in a convenient location of your choosing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

How does IRIS detect suspicious behaviour?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

We recommend you read through the IRIS@CURTIN guideline<\/a> which explains how IRIS@CURTIN works and what Curtin invigilators flag as suspicious behaviour.<\/p>\n

How do I set-up and use IRIS?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re undertaking an online exam, you\u2019ll need to download the IRIS@Curtin software on your computer before the commencement of your exam.<\/p>\n

IRIS works through a Google Chrome extension. Students must download the IRIS@Curtin extension and use Chrome to access Blackboard when taking an assessment with IRIS.<\/p>\n

  1. Download the latest version of the free Google Chrome<\/a> internet browser.<\/li>\n
  2. Download the IRIS@Curtin plugin extension<\/a> or it can be located through the Google Chrome Web Store<\/a> by searching for IRIS@Curtin or Curtin Intelligent Remote Invigilation System.<\/li>\n
  3. Once the extension is installed, follow the IRIS@Curtin set-up instructions for students<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    What else do I need to be online exam ready? <\/strong><\/p>\n

    In order to successfully sit your online exams, you\u2019ll need to make sure you have your student ID card available or another form of identification available, such as a Driver\u2019s Licence or Passport, as you\u2019ll need to verify your details throughout IRIS authentication process.
