{"id":14243,"date":"2022-12-05T06:26:22","date_gmt":"2022-12-04T22:26:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/oasis-news\/join-the-india-study-tour\/"},"modified":"2022-12-07T11:47:58","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T03:47:58","slug":"join-the-india-study-tour","status":"publish","type":"oasis-news","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/oasis-news\/join-the-india-study-tour\/","title":{"rendered":"Join the India Study Tour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Â鶹ֱ²¥ is inviting undergraduate Humanities students to participate in an international study tour to Mumbai, India.<\/p>\n<p>This program takes place from 30 January to 24 February 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The study tour, supported by the Australian Government\u2019s New Colombo Plan (NCP), includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A four-week academic study program that focuses on themes related to the social, cultural, political and environmental context in India. The first week will be spent on campus in Australia, followed by two weeks on campus in Mumbai with Curtin&#8217;s organising partner, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). The program&#8217;s final week will be spent back in Australia, where we will debrief on time in India and prepare for submission of the final assessment.<\/li>\n<li>Integrated on-site visits to participating Mumbai-based NGOs, where you will learn about the organisation and have the opportunity to gather information for your project assessment task.<\/li>\n<li>Cultural activities, including Hindi language classes, and learning experiences in Mumbai that will contribute to your work on a project relevant to your major field of study.<\/li>\n<li>An opportunity to work cross-institutionally with other students from our NCP Australian partner university, RMIT<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>New Colombo Plan eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be eligible for NCP funding, you must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be an Australian citizen and not have dual citizenship or residency rights in the program host location.<\/li>\n<li>Be enrolled in an on-shore campus of an Australian university. Be undertaking a bachelor or bachelor honours degree as defined by the AQF Framework at the commencement of the program.<\/li>\n<li>Be aged between 18 and 28 years of age (some exceptions may apply).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Curtin eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You must be an undergraduate student who has completed at least 200 credits before undertaking the tour. You must also be eligible to take COMS3000, Curtin\u2019s Study Tour unit, as a free elective unit (unit substitutions are possible, with the permission of your Course Coordinator).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Academic assessments COMS3000<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You will be asked to give a presentation that outlines your project plan; write a research project report; and submit a written reflection on the study tour experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Financial support<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If your application to join the study tour is successful, you will be awarded a $3,000 New Colombo Plan mobility grant which will contribute to your total expenses, including air fares, accommodation and study program fees in Mumbai. You may also be eligible for an OS-HELP loan.
