As you walk to your next class, you pass lines of students eagerly waiting outside the food trucks; the mouth-watering aromas and delicious dishes on the menu is enough to make your stomach rumble. Here’s five reasons why you should give in and try a food truck on campus this semester.

1. Try food you’ve never heard of or haven’t tried before

We’ve all tried Angazi’s heavenly fries, or George’s legendary kebabs, but when was the last time you tried something new on campus? Perhaps you want to try out a different cuisine, or sample a crazy flavour combination. Either way, food trucks are a great way to sink your teeth into a food that’s new to you.

2. Food truck owners are a master of their craft

Food trucks typically have a short menu, meaning that each item is on there for a reason. It might be their bestseller, an award-winning option or the chef’s personal favourite. Whatever the reason, you can be sure that the food truck staff have honed each dish to perfection. The end result is a perfectly balanced and utterly delicious meal for you to enjoy.

3. Food on the go

Hungry between classes? Food trucks are the perfect solution. With easily transportable meals, you don’t need to feel obligated to stay, as you do at a café or restaurant. Getting meals from food trucks is perfect for studying with a group, as you can fuel yourselves up in one go, and then head out to find your ideal study spot. You can even mix and match from different food trucks, giving you a chance to sample all the food trucks have to offer.

4. Supporting local

When you spot a food truck on campus, it is most likely run and owned by Perth locals. Not only that, but many food trucks source their ingredients from local growers and producers, meaning that when you buy a meal from a food truck, you are supporting many other locally-owned businesses across WA.

5. Instagram-ability

Food trucks are known for their Insta-worthy dishes. Whether it’s a decadent dessert, an artisan wood-fired pizza, or a smashing hamburger, the meals offered by the food trucks here at Curtin are the perfect candidates for those foodie glamour shots you crave. Whip out your camera, and make a post that will make your friends absolutely jealous. Or better yet, invite them along!

Hungry for more?
