If you\u2019ve just come out of a challenging semester with lower grades than you hoped for, you\u2019re not alone. The good news? One bad semester doesn\u2019t define your entire degree (or your future). Here\u2019s how to hit reset and bounce back stronger.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t panic. Reflect.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>First things first: breathe. Low grades happen to almost everyone at some point. Instead of spiralling, take a step back and ask yourself why things didn\u2019t go to plan. Was it <a href=\"https:\/\/bookings.library.curtin.edu.au\/calendar\/?cid=-1&amp;t=d&amp;d=0000-00-00&amp;cal=-1&amp;inc=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">time management<\/a>? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/students\/personal-support\/counselling-wellbeing\/wellbeing\/#linkid=study-campaign-um-corp-equity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Too many commitments<\/a>? <a href=\"https:\/\/uniskills.library.curtin.edu.au\/#linkid=study-campaign-um-corp-equity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A tricky unit<\/a>? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/study\/fees-financial-assistance\/financial-assistance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Financial struggles<\/a>? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/oasis-news\/the-art-of-reflective-practice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Reflecting and pinpointing<\/a> the cause is the first step toward fixing it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Talk it out\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>You don\u2019t have to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/students\/personal-support\/counselling-wellbeing\/counselling\/#linkid=study-campaign-um-corp-equity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">navigate this alone<\/a>. If you\u2019re struggling to figure out what exactly you need help with, or where to find it, take a look through the <a href=\"https:\/\/oasis.curtin.edu.au\/MyWellbeing\/resources\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MyWellbeing<\/a> page on OASIS for resources personalised to what you need!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Set new (achievable) goals.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Use what you\u2019ve learned to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2021\/12\/Goal-Setting-WShop-Ex-HW-2-CPD-Plan-Template.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reset your goals<\/a>. Maybe it\u2019s aiming for a pass in a tricky core unit or balancing your workload more realistically. Break it down into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/oasis-news\/set-new-years-goals-and-achieve-them-in-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">small, achievable steps<\/a>, like using a planner, going to more tutorials or joining a study group. There\u2019s a <a href=\"https:\/\/uniskills.library.curtin.edu.au\/#linkid=library-home-links-uniskills\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">study skills page<\/a> that might help you find specific skills to hone in on, that will help you in the future.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your goals don\u2019t just have to be study goals either. <a href=\"https:\/\/challenge.curtin.edu.au\/dashboard#activity\/100076\/100089\/info\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Create goals<\/a> that lead to a more balanced timetable, a less busy schedule or include time for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/oasis-news\/the-art-of-reflective-practice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reflecting<\/a>, relaxation and fun!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"4\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Make use of support services\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Curtin has a stack of services designed to help students bounce back. Remember: one semester doesn\u2019t define you\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone hits bumps in the road. What matters most is how you respond. Future employers (and your future self) care more about resilience, growth and what you learned from your challenges than a single grade.
