You may not feel motivated to move your body, much less get out of bed when the sun still hasn\u2019t fully risen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t let the cold deter you from staying active! Embrace it and try out some new ways to exercise while you\u2019re at it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Go for a run or walk<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>It may seem a bit harder to go for your usual daily run or walk in the cold, but on the days when the sun is still shining, it\u2019s nice to get your body moving and warmed up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outdoor exercise in the winter does come with a few extra benefits \u2013 think no extreme heat, less sweat and no pesky flies hovering around your face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rain can be intermittent, so check your weather app and plan for the best time to run your usual path or go for a walk at the local park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If if you\u2019re living on campus, or ever in the area, join <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parkrun.com.au\/edinburghoval\/\">Park Run at the Edinburgh Oval<\/a> at Curtin, every Saturday at 8am. It\u2019s a fantastic way to enjoy the social side of exercise while running, walking or jogging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Group and social sports<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Curtin offers a 10-week <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/sport\/social-sport-play\/social-sport\/\">Social Sport<\/a> program during the semester where Curtin students can join a team and play in a series of different sports. Registration for semester 2 opens soon, so keep an eye out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a mix of both indoor and outdoor sports and playing with other Curtin students can create a great sense of community, even in the gloomier weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you prefer the freedom of jumping onto one of the courts or fields, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/sport\/social-sport-play\/free-student-programs\/\">Curtin Free play<\/a> has offerings for both indoor and outdoor sports, with free equipment available. Just register at Curtin Stadium reception before hopping onto the court!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Indoor activities for rainy days<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>On those days when the rain won\u2019t stop, or maybe you just don\u2019t feel like being outside in the cold, give some indoor sports a go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yoga, Pilates, dance, indoor cycling, online workouts, indoor gyms and even resistance band exercises are just some of the indoor activities you can put to good use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don\u2019t know where to start, there\u2019s plenty Curtin can offer for indoor exercise as well!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Curtin Fitness Centre<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Open seven days a week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/sport\/gym-2-2\/\">Curtin Fitness Centre<\/a> has a wide range of equipment and areas students can put to good use. And membership starts as low as $12.50 a week!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Group Fitness<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>All-access gym membership holders can claim their spot in any of the 40 weekly fitness classes at Curtin Stadium, (and for only $15, non-members can join a class as well).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/sport\/gym-2-2\/fitness-timetable-2-2\/\">Group fitness<\/a> involves indoor spin classes, yoga, Zumba, stretch and flex, and so much more!&nbsp; All classes are held indoors and run for about an hour. The perfect way to take a well-deserved break from your studies, get out of the cold and get your exercise in!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Free Fit<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A few of the group fitness classes run as a free session for any students to join as well. So just bring along your valid Curtin student ID and register for a class.
