{"id":29666,"date":"2025-11-11T13:05:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-11T05:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/?post_type=oasis-news&#038;p=29666"},"modified":"2025-11-11T13:10:18","modified_gmt":"2025-11-11T05:10:18","slug":"semester-1-parking-initiatives","status":"publish","type":"oasis-news","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/oasis-news\/semester-1-parking-initiatives\/","title":{"rendered":"Semester 1 parking initiatives"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/oasis-news\/campus-parking-update\/\">advised in October<\/a>, the State Government will commence construction on the Australian Hockey Centre in early 2026 at the northern end of campus, which will affect parking availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We recognise that this has caused concern for many of our students and staff and appreciate the feedback that has been shared about the need for greater flexibility, improved access and more practical incentives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have used these insights, in addition to our collaborations with students, academic staff, professional staff, and Guild representatives, to inform the range of measures that Curtin will be implementing to make getting to campus easier in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Semester 1 initiatives include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u2018Equipark\u2019 trial bays<\/strong> \u2013 for staff and students arriving after 9.45am<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Improved CABS shuttle bus service<\/strong> \u2013 piloting an expanded service, more options<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Expanded student-led communications and incentivisation campaign<\/strong> \u2013 raising awareness of alternative modes of transport to campus, including incentives for public transport and CABS usage\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Food for Fines program<\/strong> \u2013 to be extended to four times per year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Re-zoning of many blue visitor bays<\/strong> to yellow bays in the multi-deck carpark<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Temporary Parking 1 and 2 will remain open at the north-western end of campus and Edinburgh Oval overflow parking will continue to be available for the first seven to eight weeks of each semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further improvements are in progress for later in 2026, including the introduction of a free parking week, a new parking area and a live parking dashboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of our commitment to early and transparent communication, we are also sharing the <a href=\"https:\/\/properties.curtin.edu.au\/getting-here\/parking\/bentley-campus-parking\/\">University\u2019s Curtin Parking Strategy<\/a> statement.
