{"id":30080,"date":"2026-01-15T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-15T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/?post_type=oasis-news&#038;p=30080"},"modified":"2026-01-15T10:43:57","modified_gmt":"2026-01-15T02:43:57","slug":"network-security-upgrade","status":"publish","type":"oasis-news","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/oasis-news\/network-security-upgrade\/","title":{"rendered":"Network security upgrade"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Reading time: 1 minute. <\/em><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>This\u00a0Friday, 16 January,\u00a0the Curtin Networks team will be deploying an\u00a0update to strengthen our cybersecurity.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-df-font-size\"><strong>Who does this&nbsp;affect:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you use your&nbsp;own device&nbsp;(a non-Curtin supplied laptop, or mobile phone) to connect to the Curtin network via wired or&nbsp;WiFi&nbsp;\u2013 will receive a&nbsp;pop up&nbsp;message asking you to \u201ctrust\u201d a new certificate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-df-font-size\"><strong>What do you need to do:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on your device and operating system, you will receive a notification which asks you to <strong>trust a new certificate<\/strong>. To continue accessing the Curtin\u00a0network,\u00a0you will need to accept this notification.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-df-font-size\"><strong>What is a security certificate?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An IT security certificate is a digital \u201cID card\u201d that proves a website, system or person is genuine and trusted.
