Almost 17, 000 people poured into Curtin’s Bentley campus for the annual Open Day event on August 16.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for event organisers the crowds were not the only thing pouring in.\u00a0 Rain bucketed down with little interruption over the course of the day.<\/p>\n

Despite the challenging weather conditions the university drew its second largest crowds ever.<\/p>\n

Event Coordinator Asha Selvendra said although the weather was worse than predicted, the event ran smoothly.<\/p>\n

‘The weather is so important when it comes to Open Day, but we proved this year that we make it a success regardless of the conditions,’ she said.<\/p>\n

Â鶹ֱ²¥’s newest facilities were among the most popular attractions on the day. The Resources and Chemistry Precinct and Curtin Stadium enjoyed a steady flow of visitors and the Future Student Centre had around 700 people come through their doors.<\/p>\n

Another key attraction was the Fun Zone, complete with petting zoo, air-bot wars, balloon typhoon, slide and rock climb, gingerbread bakehouse, aero bungy, circus challenge, bouncy castle and joust.<\/p>\n

All of Curtin’s\u00a0 faculty areas were there showcasing their courses.<\/p>\n

‘The feedback from all the faculty areas was really positive, ‘ Ms Selvendra said.<\/p>\n

Planning for next year’s Open Day<\/a> is already underway.<\/p>\n
