A record amount of $7,200 was raised by Curtin staff and students for Daffodil Day this year.<\/p>\n
Event Coordinator Maureen Meredith said the total was beyond her expectations.<\/p>\n
‘Usually we raise around $4,000 for Daffodil Day, but the figure this year was such a nice surprise,’ she said.<\/p>\n
‘It is a testament to all the dedicated volunteers and the generosity of Curtin’s staff and students.’<\/p>\n
More than 60 volunteers helped sell daffodils and merchandise, and rattled donation tins around campus to make the two-day event a success.<\/p>\n
Daffodil Day is one of four events run annually by the Curtin Community Project who have raised more than $500,000 for charity since 1996.<\/p>\n
Daffodil Day raises money for research, education and support services and is the Cancer Council’s largest annual fundraising event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
