  {"id":4685,"date":"2010-06-20T01:00:26","date_gmt":"2010-06-19T17:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/curtin-gears-up-for-naidoc-week-2010\/"},"modified":"2022-12-07T13:06:31","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T05:06:31","slug":"curtin-gears-up-for-naidoc-week-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/curtin-gears-up-for-naidoc-week-2010\/","title":{"rendered":"Curtin gears up for NAIDOC Week 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ is gearing up for the annual NAIDOC Week celebrations (4 -11 July 2010), with a number of events held across campus.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s theme,\u00a0 <em>Unsung Heroes &#8211; Closing the Gap by Leading Their Way<\/em>, celebrates the many unsung Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander\u2019s who have made huge contributions to Australian society.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a number of events over the week including an official <a title=\"Link to calendar event, Flag Raising Ceremony, Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ 5 July 2010\" href=\"https:\/\/news.curtin.edu.au\/events\/naidoc-week-flag-raising-ceremony-monday-5-july-2010\/\">flag raising ceremony and address by MLA Ben Wyatt<\/a>, an <a href=\"https:\/\/news.curtin.edu.au\/events\/naidoc-week-national-drug-research-institute-event-tuesday-6-july-2010\/\">informal lunch and a seminar at the\u00a0 National Drug Research Institute<\/a> on the University&#8217;s Shenton Park campus,\u00a0 a <a href=\"http:\/\/\">community event in the foyer of the Centre for Aboriginal Studies (CAS)<\/a> with\u00a0 special guest speaker Narelda Jacobs and <a href=\"http:\/\/\">a celebratory film and story event at the Faculty of<strong> <\/strong>Health Sciences<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Curtin has been\u00a0celebrating NAIDOC week since the establishment of CAS\u00a0 in 1983. Over the years the University has expanded its celebrations by partnering with external agencies.
