The new Bachelor of Arts (Humanities) degree has taken top prize at this year’s Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence and Innovation<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Over the past two years, a team of staff has developed and implemented the course from the best parts of 12 previous degree programs.<\/p>\n

The degree comprises 25 majors across the fields of art, design, media, writing, performance, Asian languages and social sciences.<\/p>\n

Humanities Dean of Teaching and Learning, Professor Sue Trinidad, said the program would allow students to select either single or double majors.[youtube]http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GMziAV7-_Hs&feature=player_embedded[\/youtube]<\/p>\n

‘By removing boundaries between study areas, the BA (Humanities) allows students to combine subjects and create their own study program tailored to their own personal goals and interests,’ Professor Trinidad said.<\/p>\n

‘The degree has been the work of a large team of people both within the Faculty and the University.’<\/p>\n

‘It reaffirms Curtin as the leading and most progressive provider of creative education in Western Australia.’<\/p>\n

Some majors are available to students off campus, with a new ‘Curtin Online’ curriculum that is relevant to industry and easy to use.<\/p>\n

Team leaders Professor Trinidad – and Heads of Schools Professor Will Christensen, Associate Professor Steve Mickler and Associate Professor Donal Fitzpatrick – steered the project to completion by engaging and partnering with many stakeholders.<\/p>\n
