  {"id":4852,"date":"2012-06-29T07:07:00","date_gmt":"2012-06-28T23:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/curtin-graduates-take-out-top-journalism-awards\/"},"modified":"2022-12-07T13:06:52","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T05:06:52","slug":"curtin-graduates-take-out-top-journalism-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/curtin-graduates-take-out-top-journalism-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Curtin graduates take out top journalism awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Wednesday night, Curtin graduates Jake Sturmer and Anthony DeCeglie won major awards at the 2012 Walkley Young Australian Journalist of the Year Ceremony in Sydney.<\/p>\n<p>Jake was named the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.walkleys.com\/young-australian-journalist-of-the-year\">2012 Walkley Young Australian Journalist of the Year<\/a> and also won the television category for his investigation into systemic sexual abuse at the government-run Katanning Hostel.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony won the print category for his story Karl in Fire Fallout; a story that detailed how WA Police Commissioner Karl O&#8217;Callaghan was watching the cricket as the Perth Hills burned.<\/p>\n<p>Both Jake and Anthony graduated from Curtin in 2008 with a <a href=\"http:\/\/courses.curtin.edu.au\/course_overview\/undergraduate\/journalism\">Bachelor of Arts (Journalism)<\/a>.
