Â鶹ֱ²¥\u2019s new students weren\u2019t the only ones finding their feet at the commencement of Orientation Week yesterday morning; our new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Deborah Terry is still adjusting to a new campus and her new role, having only started at Curtin one week ago.<\/p>\n

At the Orientation Week Welcome Festival, under the dappled shade of pine trees laced together with brightly coloured ribbons, Professor Terry welcomed this year\u2019s new students to Curtin and expressed her eagerness for commencing her new role.<\/p>\n

Originally from Western Australia, Professor Terry has had a distinguished career at the University of Queensland since 1990, initially as an internationally recognised scholar, before progressing through a number of senior leadership roles to the position of Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor.<\/p>\n

Joining the University at a time of significant change, Professor Terry is well equipped to lead Curtin in the next stage of growth and towards a vision of being a recognised international leader in research and education.<\/p>\n

Following Professor Terry\u2019s welcome, the Orientation Week Welcome Festival went on to feature sets by instrumental post-rock-indie band Runner, renowned Perth DJ Eddie Electric, Triple J Unearthed Artist of the Year nominees SAFIA and ARIA nominees Papa VS Pretty.<\/p>\n

Professor Terry\u2019s Investiture was then held after the Welcome Festival in front of Curtin staff at Elizabeth Jolley Lecture Theatre.<\/p>\n

Orientation Week activities, entertainment, campus tours and information sessions will continue for the remainder of the week, concluding with the Guild\u2019s inaugural \u2018Start Up\u2019 Toga Party on Friday evening.<\/p>\n
