  {"id":5450,"date":"2015-11-25T02:19:31","date_gmt":"2015-11-24T18:19:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/success-with-research-fellowships\/"},"modified":"2022-12-07T13:07:27","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T05:07:27","slug":"success-with-research-fellowships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/success-with-research-fellowships\/","title":{"rendered":"Success with research fellowships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two staff have received prestigious research fellowships to undertake research overseas in 2016-17.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/simon.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-33214\" src=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/simon.jpg\" alt=\"simon\" \/><\/a>Dr Simon Rosalie is about to commence his Marie Curie Fellowship for a 20 month period at the University of Florence, Italy.\u00a0 His fellowship allows him to build on his recent research activity focus of anticipation and safety of racing car drivers.\u00a0 The MOTORIST project which he will work on aims to make the use of motorcycles, or powered two wheelers (PTW), safer by reducing the occurrence of crashes where possible and by mitigating the consequences of crashes when they do occur.\u00a0 This project involves a consortium of nine leading education and research institutions and industrial enterprises across six European countries.\u00a0 Marie Curie Fellowships are Europe\u2019s most competitive and prestigious awards and are aimed at fostering interdisciplinary research and international collaboration.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/sonia1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-33215\" src=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/sonia1.jpg\" alt=\"sonia1\" \/><\/a>Dr Sonia Ranelli has just received notification that she has been awarded an Endeavour Fellowship to further her collaborative research with a team at Osnabruck University in Germany, led by Professor Christoff Zalpour.\u00a0 The focus of Sonia\u2019s Fellowship will be on injury prevention for young string instrumentalists.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Australian Government\u2019s Endeavour Fellowships support two-way engagement between Australia and the rest of the world, and provides opportunities for Australian and overseas students and professionals to access learning and research opportunities globally.\u00a0 They are merit-based fellowships providing opportunities for citizens around the world to undertake study, research or professional development in Australia and for Australians to do the same overseas. As part of the collaborative work that Sonia has undertaken in building her research activity with Osnabr\u00fcck University of Applied Science, she has supervised a Masters student at Osnabr\u00fcck \u2013 Leoni Winter.\u00a0 Every year Osnabr\u00fcck University assigns StudyUp Awards to students with excellent theses.
