  {"id":8458,"date":"2021-04-26T11:20:01","date_gmt":"2021-04-26T03:20:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/covid-19-update-26-april\/"},"modified":"2022-12-07T13:10:30","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T05:10:30","slug":"covid-19-update-26-april","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/covid-19-update-26-april\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 Update: 26 April"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\"><strong>Relaxation of lockdown measures in Perth and Peel<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\">With no new cases of community transmission in the past 24 hours,\u00a0the Premier has announced an end to the snap lockdown from midnight tonight, subject to some ongoing precautionary measures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\">For the remainder of this week universities in these regions are open for online teaching only and students are asked not to come onto campus.\u00a0We are aware that not all students have access to online facilities and we are exploring solutions to accommodate these needs in a way which is consistent with government requirements.\u00a0More information will follow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\">We are also aware that some Higher Degree by Research students who are not Curtin staff may need to visit campus to maintain experiments. If this applies to you, please email\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:essential.worker@curtin.edu.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">essential.worker@curtin.edu.au<\/a>\u00a0and include a clear justification as to why the work is considered essential, along with your student ID and the name of your supervisor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\">Students may also come to campus to attend appointments at the Curtin Medical Centre, which remains open during this week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\">Anyone who needs to come onto campus must wear a mask and observe all other current COVID-19 health precautions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\"><strong>Online teaching<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\">Your unit coordinators will be in touch with you if any of your usual teaching sessions can\u2019t proceed online this week, such as some laboratories. If you have any other questions about your online teaching arrangements, please\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studentlifecycleengagement.createsend1.com\/t\/d-l-qthttut-l-y\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contact Curtin Connect<\/a>\u00a0in the first instance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\">While the Curtin Library\u00a0will be closed to visitors, it will still be offering a range of services online to help you with your studies. More information is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studentlifecycleengagement.createsend1.com\/t\/d-l-qthttut-l-j\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">available here<\/a>\u00a0and questions can be directed to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studentlifecycleengagement.createsend1.com\/t\/d-l-qthttut-l-t\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">help form<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\">These arrangements will be reviewed towards the end of this week and we will provide more advice when we have it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\"><strong>Curtin venues and services<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\">The Curtin Stadium, the John Curtin Gallery and the Mushalla and multi-faith venues on the Perth campus will remain closed, although community sports are able to go ahead, without spectators. The Curtin Access Bus (CABS) to surrounding Bentley suburbs will also not be operating this week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\">The Curtin Childcare Centre will remain open as will the Curtin Medical Centre, as previously mentioned.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\"><strong>Student placements and fieldwork<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\">As organisations hosting placements are taking different approaches to the situation, students are encouraged to contact their unit coordinator to clarify the situation regarding their placement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\">Any students scheduled to undertake fieldwork in the coming week will be separately contacted about this.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\">Curtin Volunteers! has postponed all activities for this week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-arial\"><strong>Your health and wellbeing<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span
