Â鶹ֱ²¥ and Telethon Kids Institute<\/a> (TKI) are working together as part of a new agreement focused on enhancing children\u2019s health and medical research in Western Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based within the Perth Children\u2019s Hospital, TKI is one of the largest and most successful medical research institutes in Australia, comprising a dedicated and diverse team of around 1,000 staff, students and honoraries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The affiliation agreement promotes collaborative efforts between Curtin and TKI with the aim of growing research and enhancing research training for the benefit of children, adolescents, families and the wider community. Under the agreement, Telethon Kids Institute researchers are eligible to hold Adjunct appointments at Â鶹ֱ²¥ and Â鶹ֱ²¥ researchers are eligible for honorary appointments at Telethon Kids Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Peter Gething, Kerry M Stokes Chair of Child Health<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

World-renowned epidemiologist Professor Peter Gething<\/a> is the inaugural Kerry M Stokes Chair of Child Health at Curtin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The position is a joint initiative between Curtin, the Channel 7 Telethon Trust and TKI that honours the extraordinary contribution of media mogul and philanthropist Kerry Stokes to Western Australia\u2019s health community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a background in geospatial modelling and epidemiology, Gething has worked on malaria and other vector borne disease since 2002. He leads the Malaria Atlas Project, an international collaboration providing geospatial intelligence on global malaria epidemiology and control and is an advisor to the World Health Organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His expertise will bring new insights into how we can improve the health and development of children not only here in Western Australia, but around the world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
