  {"id":117329,"date":"2023-05-25T06:42:43","date_gmt":"2021-06-28T03:24:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/research\/?page_id=117329"},"modified":"2024-01-31T06:57:37","modified_gmt":"2024-01-31T06:57:37","slug":"chem-centre","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/research\/work-with-us\/chem-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Curtin-ChemCentre Alliance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/chemcentre.wa.gov.au\/\">Curtin-ChemCentre <\/a>Alliance brings together Âé¶¹Ö±²¥\u2019s excellence in research with ChemCentre\u2019s chemistry expertise and 135-year history of achievements as the state\u2019s premier chemical science facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/chemcentre.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-117416\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Operating from analytical laboratories housed at the Resources and Chemistry Precinct at Âé¶¹Ö±²¥, ChemCentre is a Western Australian Government entity with a rich history of collaborative research including:<br>\u2022 The&nbsp;Becher Process \u2013 the backbone of the world\u2019s mineral sands industry<br>\u2022 Trace element, lupin and broadacre research that has promoted agriculture in our state<br>\u2022 Techniques to determine acid sulfate soils, beneficial uses for mineral by-products, the fate of oil spills and chemical \u2018fingerprinting\u2019 environmental contaminants<br>\u2022 Establishment of new or value-added industries in WA including honey, forestry and medicinal cannabis<br>\u2022 Forensic fibre database, synthetic cannabis, novel psychoactive substances and proteomic techniques that have advanced forensic science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A future focus of the&nbsp;alliance&nbsp;will be on new research, enabling the strengths of our combined capabilities to be put to the task of solving the bigger challenges.
