AARE Arts Education Practice and Research SiG<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Arts Education Practice and Research (AEPR) special interest group aims to facilitate networking opportunities, the dissemination of knowledge and creative collaborations amongst arts educators and arts education researchers across and beyond Australia.  We are keen to establish strong national cross-institutional links to foster future research partnerships within the Arts; particularly as the field approaches an increasingly significant period of discussion on the place of Arts Education within the Australian educational research landscape, the current context of national testing and the advent of the National Curriculum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

University of Auckland: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We were delighted to visit the CAST centre at the University of Auckland in mid 2023 for a few days as visiting scholars. Thanks to Professor Peter O’Connor and the CAST Creative Arts Research Team for their advice and generous support of our own creative research in education endeavours at Curtin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create Centre, University of Sydney<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We are excited to announce that a new partnership with CREATE at University of Sydney around the expansion of our our Curtin Artist in Residence Program to reach more children in the regions is in development for 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drama for Life, University of the Witwatersrand Johannesburg<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Curtin Creative Practice Research Hub advocates the use of arts-based research methods in education and related contexts and are collaborating with a small number of international partners including Drama for Life and International Association for Creative Arts in Education and Therapy in this endeavour. As future projects come online further information will be posted here. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n \n \n

    Drama for Life<\/h2>\n \n

    Drama for Life, based at the University of the Witwatersrand, is an arts centre for social transformation and healing. We work closely with the founder and former Director, Warren Nebe and the current Head, Dr Petro Janse Van Vuuren. <\/strong><\/p>\n

    Drama for Life is internationally recognised as representative of the University of the Witwatersrand’s unique postgraduate academic, research and community engagement division that brings together the disciplines of Applied Drama, Drama Education and Drama Therapy within the context of a critical reflexive praxis. Their ethos is driven by the key question: What does it mean to be human and how can we learn to be resilient, without compromising our humanity, as we engage with the enormous challenges of change in the 21st century? <\/p>\n<\/p>\n \n \n

      International Association for Creative Arts in Education & Therapy <\/h2>\n \n

      The International Association for Creative Arts in Education and Therapy (IACAET) is a professional association with a global orientation and scope. IACAET promotes discourse and the development of creative arts in wide range of fields including education, therapy, healthcare and wellness, performing arts and other allied professions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

      IACAET believes the aesthetic and creative use of the arts, together with practices promoting body-mind-spirit integration in a holistic and humanistic approach, is essential for individual and collective well-being, social change, the advancement of humanity and the sustainable development of societies and nature.<\/p>\n
