This list includes the controlled goods and technologies that require a permit to export under the&nbsp;Defence Trade Controls&nbsp;Act. This list is available through the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.defence.gov.au\/business-industry\/export\/controls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Defence Export Controls Office<\/a>&nbsp;and includes:<\/p>\n\n\n<mimas-block \n        block-name=\"cards\"\n        data-segment=\"dom\">\n\n    \n\n        <div class=\"card-grid\"\n         data-card-size=\"standard\"         data-card-count=\"2\"\n         data-card-background=\"gray\">\n                    <div  id=\"part-1-defence-and-related-goods\" class=\"card\" data-type=\"\" aria-label=\"part-1-defence-and-related-goods\"><div class=\"inner\"><div class=\"card__title\"><h3>Part 1: Defence and Related Goods<\/h3><\/div><div class=\"card__content\"><p>Goods and technologies designed or adapted for military purposes or those that are inherently lethal, incapacitating or destructive.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>                    <div  id=\"part-2-dual-use\" class=\"card\" data-type=\"\" aria-label=\"part-2-dual-use\"><div class=\"inner\"><div class=\"card__title\"><h3>Part 2: Dual Use<\/h3><\/div><div class=\"card__content\"><p>Commercial items and technologies that may be used or adapted for use in a military program, for the development or production of a military system or weapons of mass destruction, or contribute to the development and production of chemical, biological or nuclear weapons.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>            <\/div>\n<\/mimas-block>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Australian legislation controls the export of controlled goods and technologies under two Acts:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Customs Act 1901 (Cth) controls&nbsp;<strong>tangible goods.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Defence Trade Control Act 2012 (DTCA) controls&nbsp;<strong>intangible goods.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<mimas-block \n        block-name=\"accordion\"\n        role=\"complementary\"\n        aria-label=\"Accordion content\"\n        data-segment=\"all\">\n\n                \n\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-What-are-tangible-exports?\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"What-are-tangible-exports?\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-What-are-tangible-exports?\">What are tangible exports?<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"What-are-tangible-exports?\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>Tangible exports are controlled goods and technology that leave Australia in the tangible (physical) form. This may include blueprints, plans, technical data etc., and includes controlled technology stored on a physical medium such as a USB, computer hard drive, CD, etc.<\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-What-are-intangible-goods?\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"What-are-intangible-goods?\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-What-are-intangible-goods?\">What are intangible goods?<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"What-are-intangible-goods?\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>Intangible exports are controlled technology that is sent from Australia electronically rather than in a physical form. This may include supply via email, fax, password access to electronic files, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Intangible supply also includes brokering. Brokering is when one person arranges the supply of goods listed in the DSGL or supply of DSGL technology to a place outside of Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Intangible supply also refers to publishing.
