{"id":23569,"date":"2022-12-06T09:53:32","date_gmt":"2022-12-06T01:53:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/students\/?page_id=23569"},"modified":"2025-12-02T10:27:55","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T02:27:55","slug":"os-help-loan","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/students\/experience\/global\/funding\/os-help-loan\/","title":{"rendered":"OS-HELP Loan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>OS-HELP is a financial assistance initiative introduced by the&nbsp;Australian Government&nbsp;to assist eligible students who want to study some of their Curtin course overseas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The loan can be used for a range of expenses associated with the overseas study, such as airfares, accommodation and other travel or study expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OS-HELP loans are administered through Â鶹ֱ²¥ on behalf of the Australian Government according to the procedures set out below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Applications open: 30 January 2026<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Applications close: 30 November 2026<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*Please note that applications may take between 6-8 weeks to be processed from assessment to payment of funds.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for an OS-HELP Loan in 2026:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students must meet the minimum eligibility requirements set out by the Australian Government found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.studyassist.gov.au\/help-loans\/os-help-loans-and-overseas-study\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Study Assist OS-HELP loans website<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Australian citizen, Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder or New Zealand citizen&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.studyassist.gov.au\/help-loans\/non-australian-citizens\">Special Category Visa (SCV) holder<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enrolled in a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.studyassist.gov.au\/help-loans\/commonwealth-supported-places-csps\">Commonwealth Supported Place<\/a>&nbsp;at Â鶹ֱ²¥<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not received an OS\u2011HELP Loan on more than one other occasion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Completed a minimum of 200 credits towards your current enrolled course of study at Â鶹ֱ²¥ (this may include CRL)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minimum Course Weighted Average (CWA) of 50<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not have commenced the final 25 credits of study for current course at Curtin before the overseas study program is completed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Study will be outside of Australia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Study will be full-time whilst overseas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have a valid Tax File Number<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Either receive credits, log book hours or accreditation for overseas study<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Application is received by Go Global before the conclusion of the applicant&#8217;s study program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Loan amounts<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can apply for an OS-HELP loan amount that is less than the maximum OS-HELP loan amount but not more. For more information visit the OS-HELP loans website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.studyassist.gov.au\/help-loans\/os-help-loans-and-overseas-study\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">How much can I borrow?<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" style=\"list-style-type:1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Download and complete the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2025\/07\/OS-HELP_Mobility-Form-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Mobility Coordinator Approval Form<\/strong> [.pdf 497kB]&nbsp;<\/a>&#8211;&nbsp;<em>your mobility coordinator will need to sign this as part of your application.<\/em> <em>If you are going on a Go Global exchange program, you will not need to complete this step<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete the<strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/goglobal.curtin.edu.au\/os-help\/apply\">OS-HELP Application Form<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;online and attach any required documentation. This will include your Mobility Coordinator Approval Form and a copy of your passport (or other document showing your citizenship)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit your application online<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go Global will assess the application<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go Global will send the outcome of your application via your student email within 4 to 6 weeks<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>If your application is eligible, you will be required to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" style=\"list-style-type:1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Read and accept the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.studyassist.gov.au\/financial-and-study-support\/os-help-and-overseas-study\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.studyassist.gov.au\/financial-and-study-support\/os-help-and-overseas-study\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>OS-HELP and overseas study<\/strong> <strong>information<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit an eCAF via your student OASIS&nbsp;using the instructions provided to you<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set up your bank details through your student Oasis using the instructions provided to you<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please note:<\/strong>&nbsp;OS-HELP offers lapse within 30 days of offer date. You must submit your eCAF and set up your bank details within 30 days of your OS-HELP offer date or you will be required to re-apply for the loan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Incomplete applications\/missing documentation may result in delays to your application being processed.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications close 30 November or until all available loans have been exhausted.<\/p>\n\n\n<mimas-block \n        block-name=\"accordion\"\n        role=\"complementary\"\n        aria-label=\"Accordion content\"\n        data-segment=\"all\">\n\n                \n\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Additional-Information\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Additional-Information\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Additional-Information\">Additional Information<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Additional-Information\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <ul>\n<li>Loans are distributed according to approval by the Australian Government.
