We work with students and academic staff to support maximum industry engagement, with some of Western Australia&#8217;s top employers, both in and out of the classroom. Host organisations support students and share their expertise, to develop the future workforce, whilst meeting their current strategic goals.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Undergraduate students studying a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/study\/offering\/course-ug-bachelor-of-science-science--b-scnce\/\">Bachelor of Science<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/study\/offering\/course-ug-bachelor-of-advanced-science-honours--bh-advsci\/\">Bachelor of Advanced Science<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/study\/offering\/course-ug-bachelor-of-applied-geology--b-apgeol\/\"> Bachelor of Applied Geology<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/study\/offering\/course-ug-bachelor-of-multidisciplinary-science--b-mtdsc\/\">Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Science<\/a> or a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/study\/offering\/course-ug-bachelor-of-technology-computer-systems-and-networking--b-csysnt\/\">Bachelor of Technology (Computer Systems and Networking)<\/a> may be eligible to access our elective STEM Professional Practice units (<a href=\"https:\/\/handbook.curtin.edu.au\/units\/unit-ug-stem-professional-practice--npsc3001v1\">NPSC3001<\/a>) to undertake an internship for credit.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Postgraduate students studying a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/study\/offering\/course-pg-master-of-science-agriculture-and-food-security--mc-agfood\/\">Master of Science (Agriculture and Food Security)<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/study\/offering\/course-pg-master-of-science-food-science-and-technology--mc-foodst\/\">Master of Science (Food Science and Technology)<\/a> may be eligible to access our elective STEM Professional Practice units (<a href=\"https:\/\/handbook.curtin.edu.au\/units\/unit-pg-stem-professional-practice--npsc6002v2\">NPSC6002<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n<mimas-block \n        block-name=\"accordion\"\n        role=\"complementary\"\n        aria-label=\"Accordion content\"\n        data-segment=\"all\">\n\n                \n\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Want-to-gain-real-world-experience?-\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Want-to-gain-real-world-experience?-\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Want-to-gain-real-world-experience?-\">Want to gain real-world experience? <\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Want-to-gain-real-world-experience?-\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>Placement allocation will be at the discretion of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, we endeavour to support as many students as possible into placements, utilising our established industry links and our partnership with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cciwa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chamber of Commerce and Industry Western Australia (CCIWA)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Internships and industry projects are generally unpaid and will vary in length, typically between 100-150 hours, though some experiences may be undertaken over a longer period of time, depending on the requirements of the host organisation, project parameters, unit requirements and availability. We will be able to check if your placement and eligibility meet enrolment requirements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Before contacting us<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please ensure:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You have a formal offer from the host organisation<\/li>\n<li>Your placement is confirmed for between 100-150 hours<\/li>\n<li>Your potential supervisor is willing to complete an appraisal of your performance. If you have any questions or issues please contact the WIL team via email at <a href=\"mailto:saeWIL@curtin.edu.au\">saeWIL@curtin.edu.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you have already submitted your placement request, please do not re-submit it a second time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Compliance process<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A placement request is to be completed <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">before<\/span> the start of the unit \/ semester.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSecIp0LsS0HYQ1D3OLFqD_Dbwoi-0GbSLabBHMJUNMjfxVL4g\/viewform\">WIL Placement Documentation for NPSC3001 \/ NPSC6002 &#8211; STEM Professional Practice<\/a> form online (regardless if your placement is paid \/ unpaid)<\/li>\n<li>A WIL Officer will be assigned to your request and will initiate actionable tasks accordingly<\/li>\n<li>Keep an eye out on your student emails and assist the WIL Officer where necessary<\/li>\n<li>Once your placement has been finalised, both you and your placement supervisor will receive an approval email form the WIL team<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If your placement is unpaid (including placements where there is a stipend \/ allowance) there is some documentation required to ensure the team can assess the placement activity risks and issue insurance. Please be aware, the following documentation may require your attention (but not limited to):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Curtin Fieldwork Agreement<\/li>\n<li>Fieldwork Risk Assessment<\/li>\n<li>TOP Request *for travel outside of 50km from Perth CBD)<\/li>\n<li>COVID-19 Declaration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">completed your placement prior<\/span> to the start of the semester you are still required to submit a placement request so we have a record of it on the WIL system.<\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n        \n<\/mimas-block>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Engineering internships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/study.curtin.edu.au\/offering\/course-ug-bachelor-of-engineering-honours--bh-engr\/\">Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/study.curtin.edu.au\/offering\/course-ug-bachelor-of-technology-computer-systems-and-networking--b-csysnt\/\">Bachelor of Technology<\/a>&nbsp;(<strong>Undergraduate<\/strong>) and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/study.curtin.edu.au\/offering\/course-pg-master-of-professional-engineering--mc-proeng\/\">Master of Professional Engineering<\/a>&nbsp;(P<strong>ostgraduate<\/strong>) degree students are required to complete a set number of logbook hours before they are eligible to graduate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These hours are undertaken through the&nbsp;<em>Exposure to Professional Engineering Practices (EPEP),&nbsp;<\/em>most commonly referred to as &#8216;the logbook&#8217;.
