GenAI technologies can be used for many purposes, such as generating written text,&nbsp;images&nbsp;and videos.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br>The use of GenAI in assessments varies by unit. Students should consult with their Unit Coordinator or lecturer to understand how GenAI may be used in specific assessment tasks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Appropriate use<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We encourage students and staff to reflect on the following key takeaways for the&nbsp;appropriate&nbsp;and ethical use of GenAI:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>GenAI may produce content that is inaccurate, biased or entirely fabricated. It is your responsibility to verify all information and review outputs before using them.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be aware that GenAI often fabricates references. Always check that sources are real and that they&nbsp;actually support&nbsp;the claims being made.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>GenAI is a tool, not an expert. It cannot replace disciplinary knowledge, professional&nbsp;judgement&nbsp;or critical thinking.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid entering personal,&nbsp;confidential&nbsp;or sensitive information into GenAI tools, as this data may be stored or used to train future models.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>GenAI should support your thinking and learning, not substitute for it.
