TCZ: a hopeful solution for toxic, invasive toads

Containing invasive toad species is closer than ever!

The Toad Containment Zone (TCZ) is a large-scale initiative aimed at preventing the mass invasion of cane toads in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, an extremely toxic, invasive species with nefarious consequences to the native wildlife, such as the Yellow-spotted monitor and the Northern quoll.

Recent developments have been made possible thanks to the SKIP foundation and their unwavering support and critical funding of the TCZ.

Empower the next generation of Women in STEM

Support our Curtin female students in Science and Engineering through outreach programs such as the Girls+ in STEM initiative to inspire and support girls and non-binary students on their path to STEM success.

eDGES: How eDNA is helping tackle sustainability

Environmental DNA (eDNA) is revolutionising the way we address biodiversity loss and sustainability challenges. This innovative approach involves collecting genetic material from environmental samples such as soil, water and air. For example, when a fish moves through water it sheds bits of itself, such as dead skin cells, mucus and faeces.
