Join us at Cafe Connect on 28 July at the John Curtin Gallery for an afternoon focused on wellbeing, support, and community.

As part of Disability Month, we`re kicking things off with a special Quiet 60 crafting session from 1pm, facilitated by Jordan Fyfe from Chronically Crafty. Whether you`re a seasoned crafter or just keen to try something new, it`s a relaxed, welcoming space to create, unwind, and connect.

From 2pm, Cafe Connect will bring together staff from Student Wellbeing, Counselling, Accessibility and Multifaith to chat about managing stress, looking after your wellbeing, and the free support services available to you at Curtin.

No pressure, no expectations, just good conversation, creativity, free food and drinks, and connection.

As a nursing student, advocate and member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Keira is passionate about creating positive experiences for others, whether that`s through patient care, social justice advocacy or simply helping people feel seen and supported.

While navigating university as an introverted and neurodivergent student, Keira has found Curtin to be a place where people are more open-minded and accepting of different experiences and identities.

"Those little steps accumulate to something bigger. You`ve got to trust it`ll happen eventually, and you`ll find your people."

From finding her place within the LGBTQIA+ community to pursuing her passion for nursing and theatre, Keira`s story is a reminder that belonging doesn`t always happen overnight, but it does happen.

After growing up as refugees in Malaysia, both moved to Perth to pursue their dreams through education. Today, Ayat is studying Computer Systems and Networking, while Majid is working towards a future in data science.

From finding support through Curtin and Skill Path to building a new community in Perth, their stories are a powerful reminder that your circumstances don`t define your potential.
